As pressures rise, it is now not only true but crucial that it takes a town to raise a child. There are many ways each of us can be part of raising connected, well-balanced, successful children in our communities; here are a few ways we know of for you to get involved right away.

Advocate for Youth

The vision of the NVYAC is to see a healthy, well-connected community that has a vibrant place for youth right in its heart. You can be a part of this vision without joining any particular organization – by genuinely caring and reaching out to the young people around you. You can look them in the eye, listen to them, and respect them, and they will notice and respond. Ten (Plus) Ways to Volunteer

There are many ways to volunteer with the NVYAC and make a difference for teens. You can volunteer regularly or for a one-time project, and we're open to your own ideas for how you can help. Here are some current needs for volunteers:

• Make and serve a healthy meal for 20 teens twice a month
• Spend time at the Angwin drop-in center
• Teach kids basic film editing
• Write news stories for the newsletter
• Hand out sandwiches at St. Helena High School
• Give business advice to young entrepreneurs in the Cookie Project
• Help with homework
• Lead a science project
• Help with data entry
• Recruit other volunteers

Become a Supervisor

The drop-in center in Angwin is open Monday-Thursday 3:00-6:00 during the school year, and is staffed by supervisors who mentor, tutor, and of course, supervise.
